The Isatou Society’s 2009 goals

Published by admin at 10:25 PM under General

Hi everyone! Welcome to the Isatou blog. Here, you’ll be able to read updates about Isatou projects, as well as articles and discussions about international volunteerism.

For the inaugural post, I’d like to state our goals for the New Year (no particular order):

  • To develop relationships with other NPOs, particularly those focusing on environmental sustainability in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • To streamline the fair-trade store, so as to make it more user-friendly and, ultimately, more profitable. (Please note that it is currently fully functional, just a little slow!).
  • To complete our inaugural project, Environmental Remediation in Sierra Leone, to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
  • To secure funding for our second project, Mining Policy in Sierra Leone.
  • To develop partnerships with Vancouver-based retailers for the sale of fair-trade goods.
  • To produce thoughtful and thought-provoking text on topics of interest to the not-for-profit community, including discussions of risky topics such as cultural imperialism in international ‘development’.
  • To attract new members!

Tall order, as you can see, but I’m confident we can achieve all of these goals.

Next post will be on what you can do to get involved!

Happy new year, world.
